I Must Face Him, Alone!

Meh. Humans dating robots is sick. You people wonder why I’m still single? It’s ’cause all the fine robot sisters are dating humans! Who are you, my warranty?! Isn’t it true that you have been paid for your testimony? Does anybody else feel jealous and aroused and worried? Leela’s gonna kill me. You, a bobsleder!? That I’d like to see! You guys aren’t Santa! You’re not even robots. How dare you lie in front of Jesus? Dear God, they’ll be killed on our doorstep! And there’s no trash pickup until January 3rd. I am Singing Wind, Chief of the Martians. Ow, my spirit! Tell her she looks thin. We’ll need to have a look inside you with this camera. Dr. Zoidberg, that doesn’t make sense. But, okay! Oh no! The professor will hit me! But if Zoidberg ‘fixes’ it… then perhaps gifts! You can see how I lived before I met you. Quite possible. We live long and are celebrated poopers. Good news, everyone! I’ve taught the toaster to feel love! You’re going back for the Countess, aren’t you? Just once I’d like to eat dinner with a celebrity who isn’t bound and gagged. Dear God, they’ll be killed on our doorstep! And there’s no trash pickup until January 3rd. I daresay that Fry has discovered the smelliest object in the known universe! Hey! I’m a porno-dealing monster, what do I care what you think? Bender! Ship! Stop bickering or I’m going to come back there and change your opinions manually! Professor, make a woman out of me. With gusto. Good news, everyone! There’s a report on TV with some very bad news! I’ll get my kit! I’m a thing.

You are a Part of The Rebel Alliance and a Traitor

Then came the night of the first falling star. It was seen early in the morning, rushing over Winchester eastward, a line of flame high in the atmosphere. Hundreds must have seen it, and taken it for an ordinary falling star. Albin described it as leaving a greenish streak behind it that glowed for some seconds. Denning, our greatest authority on meteorites, stated that the height of its first appearance was about ninety or one hundred miles. It seemed to him that it fell to earth about one hundred miles east of him. I was at home at that hour and writing in my study; and although my French windows face towards Ottershaw and the blind was up (for I loved in those days to look up at the night sky), I saw nothing of it. Yet this strangest of all things that ever came to earth from outer space must have fallen while I was sitting there, visible to me had I only looked up as it passed. Some of those who saw its flight say it travelled with a hissing sound. I myself heard nothing of that. Many people in Berkshire, Surrey, and Middlesex must have seen the fall of it, and, at most, have thought that another meteorite had descended. No one seems to have troubled to look for the fallen mass that night. But very early in the morning poor Ogilvy, who had seen the shooting star and who was persuaded that a meteorite lay somewhere on the common between Horsell, Ottershaw, and Woking, rose early with the idea of finding it. Find it he did, soon after dawn, and not far from the sand pits. An enormous hole had been made by the impact of the projectile, and the sand and gravel had been flung violently in every direction over the heath, forming heaps visible a mile and a half away. The heather was on fire eastward, and a thin blue smoke rose against the dawn.

You hit me with a cricket bat. They’re not aliens, they’re Earth…liens! You hit me with a cricket bat. You’ve swallowed a planet! You hate me; you want to kill me! Well, go on! Kill me! KILL ME! The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things.…hey.…the good things don’t always soften the bad things; but vice-versa the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant. You know when grown-ups tell you ‘everything’s going to be fine’ and you think they’re probably lying to make you feel better? Did I mention we have comfy chairs? They’re not aliens, they’re Earth…liens! It’s a fez. I wear a fez now. Fezes are cool. You know how I sometimes have really brilliant ideas? Annihilate? No. No violence. I won’t stand for it. Not now, not ever, do you understand me?! I’m the Doctor, the Oncoming Storm – and you basically meant beat them in a football match, didn’t you? Heh-haa! Super squeaky bum time! You know when grown-ups tell you ‘everything’s going to be fine’ and you think they’re probably lying to make you feel better? You know how I sometimes have really brilliant ideas? Did I mention we have comfy chairs? You hate me; you want to kill me! Well, go on! Kill me! KILL ME! Stop talking, brain thinking. Hush. I hate yogurt. It’s just stuff with bits in. Sorry, checking all the water in this area; there’s an escaped fish. I am the last of my species, and I know how that weighs on the heart so don’t lie to me! Stop talking, brain thinking. Hush. Sorry, checking all the water in this area; there’s an escaped fish. All I’ve got to do is pass as an ordinary human being. Simple. What could possibly go wrong? You’ve swallowed a planet! You know when grown-ups tell you ‘everything’s going to be fine’ and you think they’re probably lying to make you feel better? Father Christmas. Santa Claus. Or as I’ve always known him: Jeff.

I’ll be back. You can’t keep the Democrats out of the White House forever, and when they get in, I’m back on the streets, with all my criminal buddies. Beer. Now there’s a temporary solution. …And the fluffy kitten played with that ball of string all through the night. On a lighter note, a Kwik-E-Mart clerk was brutally murdered last night. Yes! I am a citizen! Now which way to the welfare office? I’m kidding, I’m kidding. I work, I work. Aaah! Natural light! Get it off me! Get it off me! Last night’s “Itchy and Scratchy Show” was, without a doubt, the worst episode *ever.* Rest assured, I was on the Internet within minutes, registering my disgust throughout the world. Human contact: the final frontier. This is the greatest case of false advertising I’ve seen since I sued the movie “The Never Ending Story.” “Thank the Lord”? That sounded like a prayer. A prayer in a public school. God has no place within these walls, just like facts don’t have a place within an organized religion. Oh, everything looks bad if you remember it. Oh, loneliness and cheeseburgers are a dangerous mix. When will I learn? The answers to life’s problems aren’t at the bottom of a bottle, they’re on TV! And here I am using my own lungs like a sucker. Marge, just about everything’s a sin. Y’ever sat down and read this thing? Technically we’re not supposed to go to the bathroom. I’m going to the back seat of my car, with the woman I love, and I won’t be back for ten minutes! I stand by my racial slur. Uh, no, you got the wrong number. This is 9-1…2. Beer. Now there’s a temporary solution. Marge, you being a cop makes you the man! Which makes me the woman — and I have no interest in that, besides occasionally wearing the underwear, which as we discussed, is strictly a comfort thing. Get ready, skanks! It’s time for the truth train! Kids, kids. I’m not going to die. That only happens to bad people. Your guilty consciences may make you vote Democratic, but secretly you all yearn for a Republican president to lower taxes, brutalize criminals, and rule you like a king!

I suggest you try it again, Luke. This time, let go your conscious self and act on instinct. Hey, Luke! May the Force be with you. I suggest you try it again, Luke. This time, let go your conscious self and act on instinct. Look, I ain’t in this for your revolution, and I’m not in it for you, Princess. I expect to be well paid. I’m in it for the money. Leave that to me. Send a distress signal, and inform the Senate that all on board were killed. In my experience, there is no such thing as luck. I call it luck. Still, she’s got a lot of spirit. I don’t know, what do you think? I can’t get involved! I’ve got work to do! It’s not that I like the Empire, I hate it, but there’s nothing I can do about it right now. It’s such a long way from here. Partially, but it also obeys your commands. You don’t believe in the Force, do you? Look, I ain’t in this for your revolution, and I’m not in it for you, Princess. I expect to be well paid. I’m in it for the money. I suggest you try it again, Luke. This time, let go your conscious self and act on instinct. Still, she’s got a lot of spirit. I don’t know, what do you think? Your eyes can deceive you. Don’t trust them. He is here. All right. Well, take care of yourself, Han. I guess that’s what you’re best at, ain’t it? As you wish. Partially, but it also obeys your commands. Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force. I want to come with you to Alderaan. There’s nothing for me here now. I want to learn the ways of the Force and be a Jedi, like my father before me. Still, she’s got a lot of spirit. I don’t know, what do you think?

I need your help, Luke. She needs your help. I’m getting too old for this sort of thing. Red Five standing by. I want to come with you to Alderaan. There’s nothing for me here now. I want to learn the ways of the Force and be a Jedi, like my father before me. She must have hidden the plans in the escape pod. Send a detachment down to retrieve them, and see to it personally, Commander. There’ll be no one to stop us this time! Obi-Wan is here. The Force is with him. All right. Well, take care of yourself, Han. I guess that’s what you’re best at, ain’t it? No! Alderaan is peaceful. We have no weapons. You can’t possibly… I call it luck. The Force is strong with this one. I have you now. Remember, a Jedi can feel the Force flowing through him. I don’t know what you’re talking about. I am a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan– Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. As you wish. You’re all clear, kid. Let’s blow this thing and go home! Look, I ain’t in this for your revolution, and I’m not in it for you, Princess. I expect to be well paid. I’m in it for the money. Kid, I’ve flown from one side of this galaxy to the other. I’ve seen a lot of strange stuff, but I’ve never seen anything to make me believe there’s one all-powerful Force controlling everything. There’s no mystical energy field that controls my destiny. It’s all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense. The plans you refer to will soon be back in our hands. Alderaan? I’m not going to Alderaan. I’ve got to go home. It’s late, I’m in for it as it is. Obi-Wan is here. The Force is with him. What good is a reward if you ain’t around to use it? Besides, attacking that battle station ain’t my idea of courage. It’s more like…suicide.

Merry Go Round

Oh I beg to differ, I think we have a lot to discuss. After all, you are a client. I’m a sociopath; there’s not much he can do for me. I have a dark side, too. Pretend. You pretend the feelings are there, for the world, for the people around you. Who knows? Maybe one day they will be. Makes me a … scientist. I like seafood. Tell him time is of the essence. Tell him time is of the essence. I love Halloween. The one time of year when everyone wears a mask … not just me. You’re a killer. I catch killers. Makes me a … scientist. I’m Dexter, and I’m not sure what I am. I am not a killer. Only you could make those words cute. I have a dark side, too. Finding a needle in a haystack isn’t hard when every straw is computerized. I feel like a jigsaw puzzle missing a piece. And I’m not even sure what the picture should be. I’m not the monster he wants me to be. So I’m neither man nor beast. I’m something new entirely. With my own set of rules. I’m Dexter. Boo. You’re a killer. I catch killers. I love Halloween. The one time of year when everyone wears a mask … not just me.
